The romance is over...land

Our trusty Disco was our home on the road - and took us more than 18,000 km from Alexandria to Cape Town

Picture
It took us five months of searching, but we finally found the perfect vehicle - a Land Rover Discovery from overland expert Paul at Footloose 4x4.

This car has it all - romantic sleeping accommodation (rooftop tent), a  champagne cooler (travel fridge) and  mood-building music (or at least a connection for our i-pad). It has also been lovingly cared for and spruced up by Paul, who knows more than a thing or two about expeditions. It might not be as iconic as the Defender, nor as hardy as the Land Cruiser, but it is sturdy, comfortable and a beautiful safari green. With Paul's help (mechanics 101 for idiots like us) we kept it in good shape during the trip and it got us all the way to the Cape with limited fuss.
